Privacy policy

Parichay is a private directory for communities you already belong to. This policy explains what we hold, why, and what you control. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version
- Your profile is visible only to people who share a community with you — unless you explicitly publish it.
- Your phone number is never shown to anyone, ever. Not to members, not to admins.
- We never upload your contacts. Only numbers you choose to invite are stored.
- You can export or delete everything, and deletion is real.
Who we are

What we collect
Because you give it to us
- Your phone number, to sign you in and to recognise you across the communities you join.
- Your profile — name, photo, city, area, role, company, skills, interests, links, and anything you write about yourself.
- What you post — asks, offers, replies, events, recommendations, and the notes you attach to connection requests.
- Phone numbers you choose to invite, and phone numbers of businesses you recommend to a community.
- An email address, only if you add one as a last-resort notification channel.
Because the app runs
- Which communities you belong to, who you are connected to, and what you have bookmarked.
- A record of notifications we sent you, so we never send the same one twice.
- Your push notification subscription, if you turn device notifications on.
- Standard server logs from our hosting provider, kept briefly for security and debugging.
What we do not collect
We do not read your address book. When you use the contact picker, your phone shows you its own list and hands us only the specific people you tapped. We have no advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share anything for advertising.
On our public pages only — the home page, the pages explaining what Parichay does, this policy, and published profiles — we use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation to count visits and see which pages are useful. It is deliberately not loaded once you sign in: what you look at inside Parichay, whose profile you read, and which communities you belong to are never sent to an analytics provider.
Who can see what
- Members of a community you share see your profile, and anything you post to that community.
- People you tag into a private post see that post and its replies. Nobody else does, including admins.
- Community admins can see the member list, join requests, and reports. They cannot see your phone number, your private posts, or your saved lists.
- Nobody sees who you have bookmarked. That list is yours alone.
- People nearby see you in Discover only if you switch that on, and only the fields you tick.
- The open internet sees a page about you only if you switch on the public profile, and again only the fields you tick.
These are not policy promises alone — they are enforced in the database itself, so a bug in the app cannot expose what the rules forbid.
Contact details and introductions
When you accept a connection request, and only then, the other person can open a WhatsApp chat with you. This uses your number without displaying it, and you can switch it off in your settings. Declining a request is silent — the other person is never told.
Recommending businesses
When you recommend a professional to a community, their name and contact become visible to that community, and to a wider audience if the community has published its Trusted list. Please only add business contacts who would welcome the work. Anyone listed can ask to be removed by contacting us or the member who added them, and we will remove them.
Who we share data with
We sell nothing and share nothing for advertising. We use these processors:
- Supabase — database, authentication and file storage, hosted in Mumbai, India.
- Vercel — application hosting, served from Mumbai.
- Twilio — sending your one-time sign-in codes and notification messages.
- Anthropic — optional AI help writing your profile and generating weekly suggestions. Content sent for this purpose is not used to train models.
- SendGrid — only if you added an email address and we cannot reach you any other way.
- Google Analytics — public pages only, never the signed-in app.
We may disclose information if the law compels us to. If that ever happens we will tell you unless we are legally barred from doing so.
Where your data lives
Primarily in Mumbai, India. Some processors (notification and AI providers) operate globally, so limited data may be handled outside India under their own safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile: until you delete them.
- Invitations you sent that were never accepted: deleted after 90 days.
- Notification records: 12 months.
- Server logs: 30 days.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and similar laws elsewhere, you may ask us to show you your data, correct it, delete it, or explain how it is used. Most of this you can do yourself in the app; for anything else, write to anand@axiomgrid.tech and we will respond within 30 days.
Deleting your account removes your profile, posts, replies, connections, bookmarks and invitations. Where you have posted in a shared thread, we remove your content and your name from it. Deletion is permanent and we cannot undo it.
Children
Parichay is not for people under 18. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.
Security
Access rules are enforced at the database layer, connections are encrypted in transit, phone numbers are held in an isolated authentication store, and access to contact details is logged. No system is perfect; if we ever suffer a breach affecting you, we will tell you and the relevant authority promptly.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
